Description
The Purchasing Manager is vital to the success of the company’s ability to meet/exceed internal customer goals/objectives, driving its capabilities forward by effectively managing the whole planning process for the organization. This position is focused on continuous improvement and the ability to transform the function into one that is considered to be world-class in terms of effectiveness and efficiency.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following, other duties may be assigned:
- Provides overall category leadership from a transactional persepctive through solid procurement efforts and timely materials management of critical materials, services and components throughout the supply chain.
- Ensure that all procurements are made, managed, documented and administered in compliance with departmental, company and government policies, regulations, codes of ethics, statutory requirements and objectives.
- Demonstrates experience in fostering relationships with key suppliers in an increasingly global network; demonstrates broad knowledge of the Purchasing function and its capability to support business objectives; manages inventory levels and turns, develops performance metrics.
- Coaches, trains, mentors and sets goals for process/performance improvement.
- Provide a proven track record in dealing with cost management, quality & delivery issues. Works with Category Managers and Supplier Development Manager to support supplier development activity and its impact on company’s performance.
- Counsels and direct subordinate Buyers and employees in outsourcing opportunity, analysis and implementation for materials and services in support of management initiatives.
- Develops/implements key considerations in developing a response to supplier capacity & capability issues.
- Manages transactional supply chain staff (Sr. Buyers(s), Buyer I, Buyer II, Assistant Buyer).
